New article online

If you are curious to know what is inside and outside of my Mac, know that I wrote a small article with a lot of pictures to immortalize the one that accompanied me for four years and a half already. It’s here !

PointMac.net v1.1

Dear visitors,

We are happy to announce you that our site made a big technological leap. Indeed, we adopted the CMS (Content Management System) SPIP to better answer our needs and especially to our wishs. Bit by bit we shall set up new features and new columns will come to enrich our small space. The most visible thing after this update, is that we’ve made a solution to adapt SPIP to a bilingual site. By the way, as you read the English version, know that we are not exactly what we can call of perfect bilinguals smiley. That’s maybe why you can read some weird sentences. So, please feel free to tell us what’s wrong.

Well, as you can see, there’s not much on-line there for the moment, but you can already use the function at your disposal by leaving us your impressions by clicking on "Post a comment" and let be guided. Then, the other visitors will can either post a new comment, or answer to your message. Anyway, you get the idea smiley

As for the future, soon (as soon as our schedule will allow it) we shall share with you our mood, informations which we shall seem important concerning the Mac’s world, the detail of our modest hardware installation, our favorite sites, as well as some tests.

The purpose of PointMac.net is not, for the moment, to become a big site of information about the Mac, far from there. We wish above all to have fun and why not to be a little bit useful.

Welcome

Welcome to PointMac.net !

Recently (17 july 2002), Apple Computer Inc. has decided to charge $100 per year ($50 the first year for prior iTools users), for its free services "iTools" (@mac.com email account and 20 mb of disk space to store files and hosted web pages) and named them ".mac" (pronounced "dot mac" or "point mac" in french). Even if they added some disk space and others little services, we think that it is too much.

We are very disappointed by this behavior, considering that we were iTools members since its beginning and that we have proudly spread and used our @mac.com email adresses. We wanted to participate to the "mac community" with our web sites to say to the world how much we love the Mac and to be hosted by Apple’s servers was another sign of our pride. It was a real enjoyment for us. But the dream ended. We feel cheated.

We are still big Mac fans and we still support the bitten forbidden fruit company as much as we can. Then we have decided to create our own little space on the web to keep on to say :

"Yes ! I’m proud to be a mac user !".

So, be welcome and thank you to have read this particularly boring text smiley

May the Mac be with you...

The PointMac.net’s team.
